This page tells you plainly what DADSAID collects, why, and what we will never do with it. If any of this feels evasive, that is a bug — tell us via the contact form (choose "My data").

What we collect

We split what we hold into two kinds of information, and we treat them very differently.

  • Private wellbeing data — your mood check-ins, what you write in reflections, what feels hardest, and dates related to your baby. This is yours, and it is the reason DADSAID exists.
  • Product analytics — basic, anonymous signals about how the app is used, such as which screen loaded or whether a button was tapped. No wellbeing content is ever attached to these events.

The hard commitment

Your wellbeing data — mood, reflections, what feels hardest — is never sent to advertising platforms, is never sent to general-purpose analytics platforms, is never used to target ads at you, and is never sold. Not in aggregate, not anonymised, not under any commercial arrangement. This is the one line we will not cross.

Local-only, until you choose otherwise

Before you create an account, everything you enter — your check-ins, your reflections, your dates — stays on your device only. It is not sent anywhere.

If you choose to create an account, that data moves to our hosted database so it can follow you across devices. It is stored under your account, protected, and still never shared with advertisers or general analytics platforms. Creating an account changes where the data lives; it does not change who it is shared with.

Special-category data

Information about your mood and mental wellbeing can amount to health-related information under UK GDPR. We treat it accordingly: we collect as little of it as we need, we keep it out of marketing and advertising systems entirely, and we rely on your explicit consent before any of it is stored in an account.

Analytics

When you consent, we record product-behaviour events only — screen views, taps, completions — never the content of what you wrote or how you said you felt. Analytics is gated behind your consent choice and can be switched off at any time.

Advertising

Nothing advertising-related loads before you give advertising consent. If you arrive via a marketing link, any UTM parameters are kept only in your browser session, and only if you have consented to that use.

Storage, retention, deletion

Account data is hosted in the EU/UK region by our backend provider. We keep it for as long as your account is active, or as long as we need it to provide the service. You can ask us to export or delete your data at any time via the contact form.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Have your data erased
  • Receive a copy of your data (portability)
  • Object to certain processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time, with no effect on past processing

To exercise any of these, use the contact form and choose "My data".

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, we would like the chance to put it right first — write to us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
